Moderna Ignites the Dance Floor with Debut Album "The Future Is Among Us"
Conceived over seven years in Berlin and Mexico City, "The Future Is Among Us" is a sonic tapestry
woven from diverse influences. Each track, produced in a different era, retains its unique character
while seamlessly blending into a cohesive album experience.
The album ignites with "DIE4U," a powerful homage to Prince's iconic "I Would Die 4 U." Moderna
reimagines the timeless sentiment – entirely self-produced and written in Berlin. Layered vocals, a
driving bass line, and a pulsating electro beats that create a controlled yet electrifying atmosphere.
The title track, "The Future Is Among Us," embodies the collaborative spirit at the heart of the album.
Originally conceived before the album was complete, bringing bass lines and a percussive energy
that feels like a declaration that the future is not something to wait for, but something we are actively
creating together on the dance floor.
The album promises a vibrant blend of electronic and dark wave music, showcasing Moderna's
ability to weave together infectious dance floor anthems with deeper, more introspective moments.
This depth is evident in tracks like "Lost at Heart," a collaboration with post-punk artist Skelesys
that transcends genre with its raw emotional vulnerability. The album's ability to seamlessly shift
between these contrasting styles is a testament to Moderna's artistry and her ability to curate a
cohesive listening experience that invites a provocative energy.
Moderna’s impressive career extends beyond this album. Beyond her solo work, she has showcased
her remixing talent on tracks for The Matrix 4 soundtrack and Curses' Next Wave Acid Punx
compilation, collaborated on four EPs with Mexican artist Theus Mago who also contributes to the
album on the dream wave serenade “Blades”.
The album will be released on her ‘Brave New Rave’ imprint which she established in 2019 from her
highly recognized radio show on KCRW Berlin.

Following his recent ‘Rave The Planet’ EP at the end of February, Milanese hard techno
producer Maike Depas is back with a brand-new release on well-renowned label The
Innovation Studio. His newest EP is named ‘The Age Of Chaos’ and features a five-track
banger arsenal – including a special remix by Italo-American producer Matasism, which
was also included in his recent BPtich Control mixtape.

“This EP is the result my own experience throughout an inner dystopic reality,
where energy-ridden sounds and epics all collide into a very personal version
of the hard techno legacy I’m devoted to.”

‘No Redemption’ is a proper big-room belter, with explosive drop divided by a big break
and a statuesque vocal that feels like a claim: “Techno is my only drug”. Same goes for
‘Tesseract’ and it’s rave-like atmosphere and hypnotic hook. ‘Dystopia’ is pure groove
and makes the listener dive into a distorted and futuristic metaverse, while ‘Cyber Attack’
and its remix include synthetic vocals tha aim to symbolize an artificial imposition: man
against machine, fiction against reality.

‘The Age Of Chaos’ will be available from April 19th via The Innovation Studio.

Young hard techno DJ-producer Maike
Depas (born Michelangelo De Pasquale)
has seen the future of music and it’s called
metaverse: “In the future it will blow up,”
he predicts. “And it’s going to revolutionize
the way we experience music.” Bowled
over by Skrillex and Martin Garrix by the
age of eight, and DJing at smaller Milan
clubs by the time he was eleven, Depas
went on to study composition and piano at
the prestigious Milan Conservatory before
learning ‘life-changing” lessons from the
best in the business at Catalyst’s 4-week
Advanced Sound Design course in Berlin’s
Funkhaus . His production gets inspired
by huge 90s trance synths as much as
pounding hard techno from artists such as
Kobosil, In Verruf and Amelie Lens.
2024 marked the launch of MAIKE
DEPAS 2.0,
a tectonic audio-visual shift that entails a wide array of content from DJ sets
livestreamed from Berlin’s Teufelsberg and other dystopic locations around Europe to
cyberpunk-inspired outfits designed by Demobaza, a cyberpunk-inspired casual couture
brand best known for their sustainable Dune X Demobaza collection. Over the course of
a developing metamorphosis from a flesh-and-bone individual to a mysterious CGI
character, Depas is another step closer to revolutionize the dance music scene through
the metaverse.

Dubbed by Igloo Magazine as the “Romanian Detroit electro/techno pioneer” and by the late Aaron Carl as “the Romanian Underground Resistance himself”, Andrew Red Hand from Romania’s spiritual capital of lasi stands up as an unwavering militant of the underground, a true Detroit spirit possessed as Romanian humanoid!

From his early gigs throwing parties as one of the first generation DJs in lasi since 1997, ARH continues to break boundaries as part of the Romanian resistance scene and numerous time portals as they open around Europe. His blistering, mind-bending sets such as at Berlin’s Tresor and Griessmuehle see the DJ with the red hand fuse pure Detroit electro and techno with the sounds of techno-bass, raw Chicago acid house, classics and futuristic beats. His mixes for Radio UR (Underground Resistance) and The Grid (Detroit Techno Militia) remain some of the best frequency transmissions to surface to air.

Armed with a Soviet Union reel to reel Majak 203, his scorching raw analogue and searing acid productions have been picked up by foundational Detroit labels such as Twilight 76, Matrix, Detroit Underground, Databass, Detroit Techno Militia, Cratesavers Intl, Visillusion as well as around the world from Holland's iconic M>O>S Recordings to 1Ø Pills Mate (Lobster Theremin), Bass Agenda and Land Of Dance. Making his first appearance on Ferox Records back in 1993 - Affie Yusuf has been producing techno, acid, and house music for over two decades, gracing heavyweight labels such as Force Inc. Music Works, Superstition Records, 909 Perversions and Chemical.

Affie is regarded as one of the most influential UK acid pioneers throughout the 1990's, releasing under his own name, and as part of House of 909 and Traffik with Trevor Loveys.

In the 2000's Affie & Trevor launched their label Tragic Magic, and founded the Machines Don't Care collective, alongside Sinden, Toddla T, Fake Blood, Detboi, Hervé, and Drop The Lime

Affie is also produces with collaborator Mr. C of the Shamen, and is resident DJ at London's long running 'I Love Acid' clubnight.

Born in Southampton on the south coast of England in the early 1970's, Affie Yusuf has established himself as one of the most important and influential pioneers of UK acid, techno and house, with a career that spans three decades.

This release was born of a cross country trip with an 808 drum machine by Thomas Ragsdale aka Winter Son, alongside Jozef K, resident of famed Manchester and Ibiza clubnight Sankey, as they join Perseus Traxx to hammer electricity out of machines. With itʼs rim shots and claps and other transistor rhythms reverberating across vast distances of space, side A is stripped back and deep from the outset, pushing forward as scattered tones, arpeggiations and disjointed voices leave their trails vanishing from perception. Side B tightens up from the previous reverbs and throws acid into the mix, as the two join Perseus Traxx and the sound becomes more raw and urgent as the three of them jam on their chosen machines.
