Distorted melancholy: On their 1996 album Sample & Hold, German noise rock band Sharon Stoned (featuring guest appearances by The Notwist and Tocotronic) defined a unique aesthetic of "German Angst." Can this vibe be translated into the club?

As a studio team, the two have spent the last decade transforming Italo disco, Brazilian samba, and French chanson into highly distinctive edits and remixes that stay etched in your memory.

For Crystal Grooves 803, the pair have refreshed Sharon Stoned's heartbreak anthem "Down" into an almost unbelievable track, a hybrid of garage and trance, anchored by Senpolya’s vocals, which capture the mood of the original with intense yet subtle precision: "Your favourite shirt I'll wear it everywhere." "John Beltran joins forces with Ireland’s Intrinsic Rhythm for a masterclass in emotional Detroit Techno with his "Roots EP" featuring a deep & soulful remix from Fireground.


Few names command the same reverence in electronic music as John Beltran. Since pioneering the more melodic, ambient-soaked textures of Detroit techno in the 1990s and 00s, the Michigan producer has spent over three decades crafting electronic music with an unmistakable human soul.
For his latest outing, Beltran links up with Irish imprint Intrinsic Rhythm for a physical and digital release after previously providing a remix for IR004 . Bio:
Ralf Hildenbeutel is an award-winning producer and film composer. His style is shaped by his eclectic background as of his classical education in piano and composition and his obsession for electronic music since the late '80s.

In the 1990s he collaborated with Sven Väth on Väth's major albums, released a countless number of club classics and founded his electronic live-project Earth Nation. He has been touring across Europe and playing at the Montreux Jazz Festival, London's Brixton Academy, Tribal Gathering Universe and others.

In that time he also produced various remixes for artists such as Anne Clark, Robert Palmer, Enigma and Yello and was awarded with the "Viva Comet" as Best Producer from Germany's music TV channel VIVA. His film music for the movie "Hommage á Noir" received the golden medal at the New York Festivals in 1996.

At the end of the '90s and first years of the 2000s it was the time for new directions and Hildenbeutel started focusing on artist-related productions and songwriting. He founded the production company Schallbau with Stevie B-Zet and A.C. Boutsen. They produced and co-wrote for artists such as Laith Al-Deen, Andreas Bourani, Yvonne Catterfeld, and Simon Collins (son of Phil Collins). That time they archived several top-ten entries and gold or platinum records.

In 2010 Hildenbeutel moved away from pop productions and focused on film music. He worked on feature movies such as "Vincent will meer" ("Deutscher Filmpreis", 2012 – German Film Academy Award) and international productions such as the Italian mini-series "Maltese".

His film music for the short movie "Momentum" (by Boris Seewald) received various awards such as "Cinedans" and a nomination for best music at the Newport International Filmfestival in the UK in 2014. In 2017 he won the "Goldene Reiter" at the esteemed Filmfest Dresden for his score for the movie "Eine Villa mit Pinien".

Hildenbeutel currently works on several international and German productions. He also collaborated with Chris Liebing on Liebing's latest solo album "Burn Slow", which has been released worldwide on Mute Records.

Pulsinger & Irl is the collaboration between Austrian producer and techno pioneer Patrick Pulsinger and Bavarian producer and sound engineer Sam Irl. 

After ten years of dub-driven live explorations, Pulsinger & Irl are now focusing on a raw, uptempo, and sample-driven take on techno.
Their new album and live set is stripped to the essentials — two classic samplers, the SP-1200 and MPC2000XL, and a 16-track mixer. By pushing these machines beyond their intended boundaries, they craft a gritty and textural sound.
This is first of two 4-track EPs that will make up the entire album („AALLIIAASS“).


The duo met in 2012 at Pulsinger's Feedback Studio in Vienna, where Sam began as his assistant engineer before becoming a studio partner.
Coming from different musical backgrounds, they found common ground in experimental techno, dub, sampling culture, and analogue gear.

Since their debut album Mud (2016), they've released the EPs Function Creep/Woodpecker (2017), Exu (2018) and Retrieval (2019), along with several remixes — most recently a rework of iO's 1994 classic Claire (2024). Their music has received support from Move D, Gilles Peterson, Mr. Scruff, Lefto, among others.

They've performed at Berghain/Panorama Bar (2016–2018), Sonar Barcelona, ://about blank, Golden Pudel, Blitz, Sziget, Elevate Graz, Lighthouse Croatia, Rote Sonne, Ars Electronica Linz, Zukunft, and more.

Over the past three decades, Patrick Pulsinger has released music on his own label Cheap Records as well as R&S, M Plant, Disko B, Compost, and has produced for DJ Hell, Hercules & Love Affair, Elektro Guzzi, Fennesz and others.
Sam Irl has released music since 2007 on labels such as Freerange, Jazz & Milk, Brownswood, Pulver and Frank Music.

GOME is shaking up dance floors worldwide with a raw, 90s-inspired House sound infused with Funk, Soul and
Disco. Having built a strong reputation through releases on Heist Recordings and his own Snackwax imprint,
GOME has earned support from leading DJs and performed at renowned venues including Robert Johnson (DE),
Berghain (DE), Golden Pudel (DE), Shelter (NL), Lofi (NL) or Blitz, to name but a few. Alongside celebrated live
hardware performances and the community-focused "GOME + The Gang" events, GOME has become known for
an authentic DIY approach, making this new 'Free Refill' project a fitting addition to the Collective Cuts catalogue.
Leading the EP is the collaborative 'Keep The Party Going' with James Juke, an apt title for a frenzied five-anda-
half-minute House jam featuring swinging, snappy drums, siren-like synth swells, gritty chord stabs and an
amalgamation of vocal hooks throughout. 'Extraordinary' follows, employing a gritty electro-leaning bassline,
a crunchy off-kilter rhythm section, twitchy arpeggio lines and a loopy, infectious vocal refrain.
On the flip-side, 'CONGRATULATIONS' sees GOME lean heavily into House roots, perfectly aligned with the Crystal
Grooves sonic aesthetic. Harkening back to 90s rave culture, it combines shimmering piano hooks, squelchy 303
licks, robust 909 drums and murky low-pitched vocals. 'You Make' then closes the EP, a loop-led cut fuelled by
circling synth lines, bright strings, a bouncy low end and a fluttering vocal hook.

RAWAX038 - Devi G. — Balearic Abrasions (12")

You know the pattern: someone calls their album "Balearic," and you immediately expect chill-out terraces, pan-flute samples, and the umpteenth return of the Café del Mar sunset. Devi G. refuses this reflex almost maliciously. The title is a trick—an invitation to disappointment for those hoping for postcard exoticism. What is actually being negotiated here is erosion, but that of the body itself: the abrasion one inflicts upon oneself in the excess of the night, when partying turns into wear and tear, and a rush becomes a graze that only becomes visible in the morning. No backdrop, then, but a wound one has voluntarily acquired.

Instead of the usual Ibiza xylophones, Devi G. digs into the rift between idyll and wear. The result reads like a séance—less José Padilla, more as if Kevin Martin had re-recorded a Manuel Göttsching record on a dying four-track deck. The target area lies somewhere between the waterlogged ambient sketches of Huerco S. and the faded dub-afterglow of Actress, but Devi G. remains consistently on his own, grainier frequency.

Balearic Abrasions (title track) opens without haste, demanding almost without impatience: no motif, no rhythmic handhold, just a slowly tilting balance between warm texture and rough surface. The grain never feels forced—it is not a lo-fi costume, but an integral part of the statics themselves. Where other ambient producers strive for perfection, Devi G. consciously seeks the breaking point. Rhythm remains a tool, never an ambition. Those expecting quick resolution will be disappointed; those willing to listen will receive a depth effect that is rarely this vivid.

Exit Through Thee Gift Shop tips into harder territory: dub-techno reduction meets industrial edge, carried by a stoic kick drum that knows no mercy. Metallic textures slice through the sub-bass, while repetitive chords hypnotize like a defective loop. Central to this is a rare Terence McKenna recording, which functions less as spoken-word ornamentation and more as a disruptive spirit between memory and media archaeology. The title—Banksy reference included—turns this into a biting punchline: radical electronic abstraction positioned against the hyper-commercialized art world.

Morning Depth pushes the claustrophobia further, somewhere between post-industrial and deep-sea dub. The track refuses any peak-time logic, preferring to disintegrate into itself, subcutaneously, methodically. At the end, a casual, almost banal vocal sample (“i defiantly prefer chocolate”) breaks into the cool machinery—a small, profane fissure that makes the coldness of the rest of the piece all the more apparent.

Desiré Algorithmic is the album's most calculated moment: a stoic, repetitive bassline as a foundation, topped with fragile melody fragments that flash like glitches in faulty code. The title reads like a promise from nightlife—a figure that suggests much and delivers nothing, because behind the façade there is simply nothing, only simulation. The track carries exactly this principle: promise without substance, desire without body, just rendering. Only in the final third does a melancholic saxophone break into the sterile structure—organic, imperfect, and for that very reason more credible than everything before it. It is the moment in which the real briefly flashes through the surface of the dummy before it closes again.

All-inclusive Residue concludes the album as sedimentation rather than dramaturgy: dub-techno remnants, industrial patina, salty ambient surfaces that settle rather than compose. The refusal of consumption as a sonic principle—brittle, stubborn, with a gravity that lingers long after.

Verdict: Balearic Abrasions is not easy listening with a sea view, but an exercise in patience and friction. The restraint with which Devi G. avoids climaxes will frustrate some—for everyone else, that is exactly where the record's strength lies. No sunset. Rather, what remains on the rocks afterward.

Die Körnung wirkt nie aufgesetzt — kein Lo-Fi-Kostüm, sondern integraler Bestandteil der Statik selbst. Wo andere Ambient-Produzenten Perfektion anstreben, sucht Devi G. bewusst die Bruchstelle. Rhythmik bleibt Werkzeug, nie Anspruch. Wer schnelle Auflösung erwartet, wird enttäuscht; wer bereit ist zuzuhören, bekommt eine Tiefenwirkung, die selten so plastisch gerät.

Exit Through Thee Gift Shop kippt ins Härtere: Dub-Techno-Reduktion trifft auf Industrial-Kante, getragen von einer stoischen Kickdrum, die keine Gnade kennt. Metallische Texturen zerschneiden den Sub-Bass, während repetitive Akkorde hypnotisieren wie eine defekte Endlosschleife. Zentral: eine seltene Terence-McKenna-Aufnahme, die weniger als Spoken-Word-Zierrat funktioniert denn als Störgeist zwischen Erinnerung und Medienarchäologie. Der Titel — Banksy-Referenz inklusive — macht daraus eine bissige Pointe: radikale elektronische Abstraktion gegen die durchkommerzialisierte Kunstwelt in Stellung gebracht.

Morning Depth treibt die Klaustrophobie weiter, irgendwo zwischen Post-Industrial und Tiefsee-Dub. Der Track verweigert jede Peaktime-Logik und zerfällt lieber in sich selbst, subkutan, methodisch. Am Ende bricht ein beiläufiges, fast banales Sprachsample („i defiantly prefer chocolate”) in die kühle Maschinerie ein — ein kleiner profaner Riss, der die Kälte des restlichen Stücks umso deutlicher macht.

Desiré Algorithmic ist der kalkulierteste Moment des Albums: eine stoische, repetitive Bassline als Fundament, darüber fragile Melodiesplitter, die aufblitzen wie Glitches in fehlerhaftem Code. Der Titel liest sich wie ein Versprechen aus dem Nachtleben — eine Figur, die viel andeutet und nichts einlöst, weil hinter der Fassade schlicht nichts steht, außer Simulation. Genau dieses Prinzip trägt der Track: Verheißung ohne Substanz, Begehren ohne Körper, nur Rendering. Erst im letzten Drittel bricht ein melancholisches Saxophon in die sterile Struktur ein — organisch, unvollkommen, und gerade deshalb glaubwürdiger als alles zuvor. Es ist der Moment, in dem das Reale kurz durch die Oberfläche der Attrappe blitzt, bevor sie sich wieder schließt.

All-inclusive Residue beschließt das Album als Sedimentation statt Dramaturgie: Dub-Techno-Reste, Industrial-Patina, salzige Ambientflächen, die sich eher ablagern als komponieren. Konsumverweigerung als Klangprinzip — spröde, hartnäckig, mit einer Schwerkraft, die lange nachwirkt.

Fazit: Balearic Abrasions ist kein Easy Listening mit Meerblick, sondern eine Übung in Geduld und Reibung. Die Zurückhaltung, mit der Devi G. auf Höhepunkte verzichtet, wird manche frustrieren — für alle anderen liegt genau darin die Stärke der Platte. Kein Sonnenuntergang. Eher das, was danach an den Felsen zurückbleibt.

I'm Stefano Curti, co-founder of Vibraphone Records alongside my dearest friend Mauro Tannino. In 1991, I was living on my own in London when I recorded the very first Vibraphone Records release right in my living room: 49th Floor – Night Passage. Now, 25 years later, I find myself alone once again in my living room—this time in Milan—and I felt the need to celebrate this full-circle moment by producing a 2026 Redux of that original record.
