‘Subluminal’ marks the debut of Symeon Yovev (aka V0LAND) in the
experimental electronic music scene. After years of composing
soundscapes using field recordings and completing a practice-led
doctoral degree (PhD) on this very topic in March 2020, V0LAND's
creative direction, like many others, was transformed by the
global lockdown. Confined indoors, he began to experiment with a
couple of obscure analogue synthesizers he had collected over
time. This experimentation soon evolved into a cohesive body of
work, resulting in the compositions that make up ‘Subluminal.’
As the lockdown persisted far beyond expectations, V0LAND moved on
to other projects, and ‘Subluminal’ was temporarily shelved. Now,
exactly four years later, this collection is finally set to be
released in its original form, available both digitally and on
vinyl.
